(A149, R31, S294)

A JOINT RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD, EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2003, TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP OF A SURPLUS NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY IN BISHOPVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA, TO LEE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF BISHOPVILLE.

Whereas, the National Guard Armory located at 547 South Main Street, Bishopville, South Carolina, is currently vacant; and

Whereas, the State Military Department has relocated the National Guard unit previously headquartered at this armory and has declared this property surplus to its current needs; and

Whereas, a replacement site is neither an issue nor necessary because the military department is unable to forecast a need for such a site. Now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Transfer of armory

SECTION    1.    Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 25-1-1660 of the 1976 Code, the State Budget and Control Board, effective July 1, 2003, is authorized to transfer ownership of a surplus National Guard Armory located at 547 South Main Street, Bishopville, South Carolina, to Lee County and the City of Bishopville.

Time effective

SECTION    2.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Ratified the 16th day of April, 2003.

Became law without the signature of the Governor -- 4/23/03.
