A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE DREHER HIGH SCHOOL SAT TEAM OF COLUMBIA FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS, INCLUDING BEING NAMED THE CLASS AAA LOWER STATE AND STATE CHAMPIONS FOR 2003.

Whereas, excelling in academic competition should be, and is, of great importance to all students in the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are particularly proud of young people when they use their youthful brainpower to achieve goals and demonstrate to the rest of the country the educational gains that this State has had in recent years; and

Whereas, on February 26, 2003, the members of the Dreher High School SAT Team of Columbia set out to become champions and did so by claiming the Class AAA Lower State Championship Title for the fifth consecutive year; and

Whereas, the members of the SAT Team continued to challenge themselves and competed in the Class AAA State Championship match on March 12, 2003; and

Whereas, again, the team members accomplished their common goal by scoring higher than any other school in the State at each level of the competition and becoming the Class AAA State Champions for the second consecutive year; and

Whereas, impressive individuals also were recognized at both competitions, including David Wang as the individual Lower State Champion and Guy Boudreaux as the individual State Runner-Up; and

Whereas, the members of the Dreher High School SAT Team include Guy Boudreaux, Mary Kathryn Keane, Alex Creswick, Spencer Robinson, Alice Robinson, Matthew Thunnell, Caitlin Myers, Ted Wilcox, Clark Lacy, Rachel Perkins, David Wang, Melina Engh, JT Egan, Sarah Orr, Sam McDermott, Chris Williams, Molly Bockman, Rob Bockman, Larry McWilliams, Jennifer Mason, Carter Stiglbauer, Sarah Quattlebaum, Katherine Baysinger, Lauren Felkel, Luke Bradley, Brant Werts, Rob Shuler, Mary Beth Ward, Lucas Wentworth, Roxanne Stockard, Robbie Wilcox, Ali Collins, Glen Hepfer, James Carlisle, Jaclyn Hall, Lizzy Bergen, Suren Seneviratne, Kevin Yeh, Laura Golson, Thomas Thunell, and Patrick Barrineau. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the Dreher High School SAT Team of Columbia for their hard work and recent accomplishments, including being named the Class AAA Lower State and State Champions for 2003.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dreher High School and the members of the SAT Team of Columbia.
