A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE DR. STEVE AARON WILSON OF COLUMBIA ON BEING NAMED SECONDARY PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR FOR THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS HARD WORK AND DEDICATION, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Dr. Steve Wilson, Principal of Keenan High School, was named the Secondary Principal of the Year for the State of South Carolina by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; and

Whereas, Dr. Wilson began his career in education in 1974 as a Science and Agriculture teacher at McCrorey-Liston High School and has been a devoted and enthusiastic educator and an administrator for thirty years; and

Whereas, since his arrival at Keenan High School in 1998, Dr. Wilson has sponsored programs like mentoring and tutoring, homework help, and college preparation; and

Whereas, Dr. Wilson's innovative ideas in the field of education have produced a new program, REAL that will develop a partnership between Keenan and the University of South Carolina School of Engineering. The program would allow students to take advanced science and math courses to earn dual college and high school credits; and

Whereas, plans for the new $40 million Keenan High School will provide labs and computer technology to advance the school's new focus on REAL; and

Whereas, Dr. Wilson is married with two children and attends Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Blair; and

Whereas, Dr. Wilson lends his knowledge, skill, participation, and leadership to many professional associations including the National Association of Secondary School Principals, South Carolina Association of School Administrators, South Carolina Secondary Principals Association, and the 3AAA Athletic Conference, as well as serving our country as a Major in the United States Army Reserves; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to honor Dr. Steve Wilson for being named the Secondary Principal of the Year for South Carolina and to recognize him for his many outstanding contributions to Keenan High School. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Steve Aaron Wilson of Columbia on being named Secondary Principal of the Year for the State of South Carolina, commend him for his hard work and dedication, and wish him much success in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Steve Wilson of Columbia.
