VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 10-1-210 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PLAQUE INSCRIBED WITH THE WORDS "IN GOD WE TRUST" MUST BE INSTALLED OVER THE ENTRANCE TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IN THE STATE HOUSE AND ON THE ENTRANCE GATES TO THE GOVERNOR'S MANSION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 10 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 10-1-210. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a plaque inscribed with the words 'In God We Trust' must be installed above the entrance to the Governor's office in the State House and on the entrance gates to the Governor's mansion. The State House Committee and the Governor's Mansion and Lace House Commission, respectively, shall select the plaques and oversee their installation in the State House and on the gates to the mansion."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
