VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 45-5-80 SO AS TO REQUIRE LODGING ESTABLISHMENTS TO COMPLY BEFORE JULY 1, 2007, WITH INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE STANDARDS FOR FIRE SUPPRESSION AND TO DEFINE "LODGING ESTABLISHMENT".
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 5, Title 45 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 45-5-80. In addition to any other applicable fire and safety requirements, before July 1, 2007, a lodging establishment in this State shall comply with the latest edition of the International Building Code standards for fire suppression in effect at that time. As used in this section, 'lodging establishment' means a hotel, motel, villa, condominium, or inn in which room, lodging, or sleeping accommodations are furnished to transients for consideration."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
