Whereas, Sam Bennett began serving as City Manager in 2001 and is the second recipient of the award bestowed by the city's nonprofit economic development group; and

Whereas, playing an integral role in the deal that brought Sterilite Corporation to Laurens County, Mr. Bennett has also been involved with the Clinton Economic Development Corporation and the Laurens County Economic Development Corporation; and

Whereas, the wholehearted support that Mr. Bennett gave the city's 007 Strategic Plan, the re-organization of the Main Street program in Clinton, and his efforts to advance the corporate park project were a large part of his receiving the prestigious award; and

Whereas, without the efforts and leadership of Mr. Bennett, Laurens County and the Town of Clinton would not be on the path of success that they are on today, and his dedication and energy have brought prosperity to his community as well as the Palmetto State, and there is no doubt it will continue under his leadership. Now, therefore,
