A SENATE RESOLUTION

THANKING CHARISSE PHILLIPS, DEBBIE PHILLIPS, AND STEVE PHILLIPS, OWNERS OF THREE FOUNTAINS SKATING RINK IN WEST COLUMBIA, FOR THEIR GENEROSITY IN HOSTING THE HONOR ROLL STUDENTS OF THE AREA ON SATURDAYS IN FEBRUARY TO A MORNING OF FUN IN RECOGNITION OF THEIR HARD WORK AND SUCCESS IN SCHOOL.

Whereas, good students make good citizens, and too often we fail to recognize those youths who do their best in school and in their communities; and

Whereas, for ten years Senator Jake Knotts has been proud to honor the students of schools in House District 88 and, later, in Senate District 23 for their successful efforts and hard work; and

Whereas, his recognition program has expanded from 170 children the first year to more than 4,700 this year; and

Whereas, it would be impossible to individually honor that many students without the generous support of Charisse Phillips, Debbie Phillips and Steve Phillips, owners of Three Fountains Skating Rink; and

Whereas, through their efforts the skating rink, indoor golf facility, and canteen are open on Saturday mornings in February exclusively for these top performing students; and

Whereas, their cooperation and selflessness in making sure that youth who do special things receive special attention is truly appreciated. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, thank Charisse Phillips, Debbie Phillips, and Steve Phillips, owners of Three Fountains Skating Rink in West Columbia, for their generosity in hosting the honor roll students of the area on Saturdays in February to a morning of fun in recognition of their hard work and success in school.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Charisse Phillips, Debbie Phillips, and Steve Phillips.
