TO RECOGNIZE MINGO VERNON M. TANNER, CHIEF OF THE CHALOKLOWA CHICKASAW INDIAN PEOPLE OF INDIANTOWN, SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR HIS SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE STATE RECOGNITION OF NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN ENTITIES REGULATION, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS THE FIRST NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN COMMISSIONER TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA COMMISSION FOR MINORITY AFFAIRS.
Whereas, Mingo Vernon M. Tanner has shown outstanding leadership in the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs Native American Ad Hoc Committee and he has significantly contributed to the formation of the legislative effort to amend the scope of this Commission to include the representations of Native Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and other minorities; and
Whereas, working tirelessly in the formation of the criteria for state recognition of tribes, groups, and special interest organizations, Chief Tanner has gained the respect and admiration of all those he has worked with; and
Whereas, performing at the highest levels of professionalism, Chief Tanner has made citizens of South Carolina aware of the needs and concerns of all its Native American communities; and
Whereas, as a result of his hard work and dedication, Mingo Tanner has been appointed the first Native American Commissioner to the Minority Affairs Commission and the Palmetto State is fortunate to have such an involved and caring citizen. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize Mingo Vernon M. Tanner, Chief of the Chaloklowa Chickasaw Indian People of Indiantown, South Carolina, for his significant contributions to the development of the state recognition of Native American Indian Entities Regulation and congratulate him on his appointment as the first Native American Indian Commissioner to the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Chief Mingo Vernon M. Tanner of Indiantown, South Carolina.
