A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE CARL D. LOADHOLT OF FAIRFAX AND TO CONVEY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LOVING FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened by the death of the Honorable Carl D. Loadholt of Fairfax on February 27, 2003, at the age of eighty; and

Whereas, Mayor Loadholt was born on October 28, 1922, in the Jennys community of Allendale County and was the son of Dr. and Mrs. G.W.I. Loadholt; and

Whereas, he courageously served his country during World War II and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Newberry College in 1951; and;

Whereas, Mayor Loadholt was a dedicated employee of the United States Department of Energy's Savannah River Plant for many years until his retirement and was a faithful member of St. Nicholas Lutheran Church; and

Whereas, as an active member in the community, Mr. Loadholt served as past president of the Lions Club. He was also a civic leader and served as Mayor of the Town of Fairfax from 1971 to 1975, on the Fairfax Town Council from 1995 to 1999, and on the Allendale County Council; and

Whereas, the General Assembly extends its sympathy to the family and friends of Mayor Carl D. Loadholt. He is survived by his wife, Hazel B. Loadholt; his daughters, Gail L. Hugus and Anne L. Hall; his son, Dave Loadholt; his sister, Irene L. Lanning; and his grandchildren Amelia Hugus, Paul Hugus, and Jackson Hall. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of the Honorable Carl D. Loadholt former Mayor of Fairfax, on Thursday, February 27, 2003, and convey deepest sympathy to his loving family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Hazel B. Loadholt of Fairfax.
