TO AUTHORIZE THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD, EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2003, TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP OF A SURPLUS NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY LOCATED AT 220 BYNUM STREET IN ST. MATTHEWS, SOUTH CAROLINA, TO THE TOWN OF ST. MATTHEWS.
Whereas, the National Guard Armory located at 220 Bynum Street, St. Matthews, South Carolina, and named for "Boots" Oliver is currently vacant; and
Whereas, the State Military Department has declared this property surplus to its current needs; and
Whereas, a replacement site is neither an issue nor necessary because the military department is unable to forecast a need for such a site. Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 25-1-1660 of the 1976 Code, the State Budget and Control Board, effective May 1, 2003, is authorized to transfer ownership of a surplus National Guard Armory located at 220 Bynum Street, St. Matthews, South Carolina, to the Town of St. Matthews. The name of the armory must continue to be named "Boots" Oliver Armory and markers or signs on the property on which the armory is located must not be removed.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
