A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO PROVIDE THAT THE AIKEN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION AS THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE AIKEN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2003-2004 IS AUTHORIZED TO FORGIVE UP TO THREE SCHOOL DAYS MISSED BY ANY SCHOOL OF THE DISTRICT BECAUSE OF SNOW OR EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Pursuant to Section 59-1-430(B) of the 1976 Code, the Aiken County Board of Education as the governing body of the Aiken County School District for school year 2003-2004 is authorized to forgive up to three school days missed by any school of the district because of snow or extreme weather conditions. If the board forgives these school days missed, the requirements of Section 59-1-430(B) must be met.

SECTION    2.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
