THE GENERAL COMMITTEE

To whom was referred a Bill (S. 638) to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section 25-11-45 so as to provide for funding of County Veterans Affairs Offices from appropriated, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass with amendment:

Amend the bill, as and if amended, page 1, beginning on line 22, by striking SECTION 1 and inserting therein the following:

/            SECTION 1. Chapter 11, Title 25 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 25-11-45. Notwithstanding Section 1-30-110 (4), a County Veterans Affairs Office must be funded with monies appropriated by the General Assembly for that purpose and payable directly to the County Treasurer's Office by the State Treasurer."            /

Renumber sections to conform.

Amend title to conform.

A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 25-11-45 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR FUNDING OF COUNTY VETERANS AFFAIRS OFFICES FROM APPROPRIATED MONIES DIRECTLY PAYABLE FROM THE STATE TREASURER TO EACH COUNTY OFFICE INSTEAD OF THROUGH THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 11, Title 25 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 25-11-45.    Notwithstanding Section 1-30-110(4), a county veterans affairs office must be funded with monies appropriated by the General Assembly for that purpose and payable directly to the office by the State Treasurer instead of payable to the office through the Office of the Governor."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor and applies to the next fiscal year beginning after that date.
