To whom was referred a Bill (S. 998) to amend Act 178 of 1995 by adding a new paragraph to Section 1 requiring the executive director of the county board of election, upon recommendation of the McCormick County Council, etc., respectfully

TO AMEND ACT 178 OF 1995 BY ADDING A NEW PARAGRAPH TO SECTION 1 REQUIRING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTION, UPON RECOMMENDATION OF THE MCCORMICK COUNTY COUNCIL, BE APPOINTED BY A MAJORITY VOTE OF THE SENATORS AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE MEMBERS REPRESENTING MCCORMICK COUNTY TO SERVE FOR A TERM OF TWO YEARS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. SECTION 1 of Act 178 of 1995 is amended by adding a new paragraph at the end to read:
"(G) The executive director, upon recommendation of the McCormick County Council, must be appointed by a majority vote of the Senators and a majority vote of the members of the House of Representatives representing McCormick County. The appointment is for a term of two years or until a successor is appointed."
SECTION 2. In accordance with Section 59-1-430, up to three school days missed by students enrolled in any school in the McCormick County School District because the school was closed due to snow, extreme weather conditions, or other disruptions are exempt from being made up if approval is granted through a majority vote of the local school board.
SECTION 3. In accordance with Section 59-1-430, up to three school days missed by students enrolled in any school in the Edgefield County School District because the school was closed due to snow, extreme weather conditions, or other disruptions are exempt from being made up if approval is granted through a majority vote of the local school board.
SECTION 4. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
