TO CONGRATULATE THE FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENTS OF RICHLAND NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO FOR BEING SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE PRESTIGIOUS JOHN F. KENNEDY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS "CREATIVE TICKET NATIONAL SCHOOL OF DISTINCTION" AWARD FOR THE 2004-2005 SCHOOL YEAR.
Whereas, Richland Northeast High School located in Richland School District Two has been selected to receive the esteemed John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts "Creative Ticket National School of Distinction" award, one of the nation's highest achievements in arts education; and
Whereas, the "Creative Ticket National Schools of Distinction" award is one that recognizes each year those schools across the nation that have done an outstanding job in making arts an essential component in the education of their students; and
Whereas, only five schools in the nation are selected annually to receive this coveted award and Richland Northeast High School is the fourth South Carolina school in the past four years to be the recipient of this impressive award; and
Whereas, Richland Northeast High School is Richland District Two's Fine Arts Magnet School and home to the Palmetto Center for the Arts, an arts conservatory with an extensive four year standards-based, sequential course of study for highly talented students of dance, music, theater, literary arts, and visual arts; and
Whereas, in addition, Richland Northeast offers its general school population a comprehensive, innovative curriculum stressing a quality arts program as essential to the core education for all students and has more than seventy percent of its 1650 student population enrolled in an arts class; and
Whereas, in the Spring of 2006, Richland Northeast High School will send a delegation of teachers and students to our nation's capitol to perform on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center; and
Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the General Assembly recognize and honor Richland Northeast High School for its outstanding arts programs and the dedication and commitment of its faculty, staff, and students to making art vital to the curriculum at Richland Northeast. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Richland Northeast High School in Richland School District Two for being selected to receive the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts "Creative Ticket National School of Distinction" award for the 2004-2005 school year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the faculty, staff, and students of Richland Northeast High School.
