A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MR. WARREN WINSTON SIMMONS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, Warren Winston Simmons is the tenth of eleven children born to Ed and Minerva Simmons on April 1, 1926; and

Whereas, he is the son of a sharecropper who graduated from Palmetto High School and North Carolina A & T with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education Administration. Having served many years in the education system, Warren is a retired educator; and

Whereas, Mr. Simmons is a Korean War veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Haan, which crossed the Northern Domain of the Polar Bear and remained there for six months; and

Whereas, he is a man of commitment. Teaching and believing in family cohesion, he is devoted to his wife, three sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren, always keeping their welfare and livelihood in the forefront of his endeavors; and

Whereas, Mr. Simmons is also devout to his faith in God and his church, Ebenezer A.M.E. He believes that nothing is too difficult and that everything he needs can be found through his faith; and

Whereas, he excels in many roles, including, confidante, optimist, comrade, inspirer, visionary, and mentor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Warren Winston Simmons on the occasion of his eightieth birthday, and wish him much success and happiness in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Warren Winston Simmons.
