A BILL

TO AMEND CHAPTER 23, TITLE 57, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO HIGHWAY BEAUTIFICATION, BY ADDING ARTICLE 10 SO AS TO DESIGNATE THE PORTION OF UNITED STATES HIGHWAY 17 LOCATED IN COLLETON COUNTY AS ACE BASIN SCENIC PARKWAY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 23, Title 57 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Article 10

ACE Basin Scenic Parkway

Section 57-23-450.    Notwithstanding another provision of law, the portion of United States Highway 17 located in Colleton County from the Edisto River to the Combahee River is designated as a scenic parkway to be known as the ACE Basin Scenic Parkway. The Department of Transportation, the Department of Archives and History, and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism shall cooperate in the installation of appropriate markers and signs to implement this designation.

Section 57-23-460.    The portion of United States Highway 17 designated as a scenic parkway by this article is subject to the provisions contained in the Highway Advertising Control Act."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
