VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 44-7-25 SO AS TO REQUIRE A HOSPITAL TO GIVE PATIENTS BEING DISCHARGED FROM THE EMERGENCY ROOM, THE OPTION OF RECEIVING A SEVENTY-TWO HOUR SUPPLY OF ANY MEDICATIONS BEING PRESCRIBED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 7, Title 44 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 44-7-25. Upon discharge from a hospital emergency room, the hospital in addition to providing a patient with a written prescription for any needed medication, shall give the patient the option of also receiving a seventy-two hour supply of the medication."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
