A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 1-11-730, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PERSONS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STATE HEALTH AND DENTAL INSURANCE PLANS, SO AS TO ALLOW A MEMBER OF THE GOVERNING BOARD OF A PUBLIC INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PLAN BY PAYING THE FULL PREMIUM COSTS AS DETERMINED BY THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 1-11-730 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 80 of 2003, is further amended by adding an appropriately lettered subsection at the end to read:

"(    )    A member of the governing board of a public institution of higher learning, as defined in Section 59-103-5, is eligible to participate in the plans by paying the full premium costs as determined by the State Budget and Control Board."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
