VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE PICKENS HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE CLASS AAA VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, COMMEND THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF OF THE PICKENS HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR A SEASON OF SPIRITED COMPETITION AND TREMENDOUS SUCCESS, AND WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the Pickens High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team has dominated the State in recent years, capturing its tenth state title in twenty-seven years on Saturday, November 6, 2004; and
Whereas, Head Coach Jennifer Gravely led the "Blue Flame" to the state championship game during her second season at Pickens High School; and
Whereas, the ladies from Pickens High School met the ladies from Brookland-Cayce in the championship game of the state tournament, and with their family and friends cheering them on, the "Blue Flame" won by scores of 25-10, 25-12, and 25-13, giving Pickens the Class AAA State Championship; and
Whereas, the 2004 Pickens High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team is made up of disciplined student athletes, including Jennifer Richardson, Carolyn Rivers, Sarah McCollum, Chelsea Anthony, Elizabeth Rivers, Kelli Constance, Katie Bridges, Lauren Williams, Channing Cantrell, Whitney Looper, Stephanie Alexander, Shanna Hughes, Sierra Austin, Catherine Gilcrease, and Michelle Hayes; and
Whereas, the players were led by Head Coach Jennifer Gravely and Assistant Coach Janet Phillips, with support and encouragement from Athletic Director Steve Corn and Principal Marion Lawson; and
Whereas, the players, coaches, and staff of the 2004 Pickens High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team committed themselves to a season of excellence to win the state championship for the tenth year. Now, therefore
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Pickens High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team on winning the Class AAA Volleyball State Championship, commend the players, coaches, and staff of Pickens High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team for a season of spirited competition and tremendous success, and wish them every success in their future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Jennifer Gravely and the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team of Pickens High School.
