VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 39-5-36 SO AS TO MAKE IT AN UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICE FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE REPAIR BUSINESS TO ADMINISTER INSURANCE CLAIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLE REPAIRS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 5, Title 39 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 39-5-36. It is an unlawful trade practice pursuant to Section 39-5-20 for a motor vehicle repair business actively engaged in the repair of motor vehicles, or a person or entity with a ten percent or more ownership interest in that business, to administer insurance claims."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
