A BILL

TO PROVIDE THAT THE CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD MAY ALLOW A TEACHER, GUIDANCE COUNSELOR, OR MEDIA SPECIALIST TO SUSPEND A STUDENT FOR UP TO FIVE CONSECUTIVE DAYS BY WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE AND TO THE STUDENT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    (A)    The Charleston County School Board may allow a teacher, guidance counselor, or media specialist to suspend a student for up to five consecutive days by written notice to the school office and to the student.

(B)    The student may not appeal the decision of the teacher, guidance counselor, or media specialist to suspend the student.

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
