AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 197 OF 1991, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE MARION COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT, SO AS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS FROM NINE TO ELEVEN AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE TERMS OF THE TWO NEW MEMBERS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Board members increased
SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 197 of 1991 is amended to read:
"Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Board of Commissioners of the Marion County Hospital District shall consist of eleven members appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the majority of the Marion County Legislative Delegation. The terms of the members are for four years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. A commissioner may not serve more than two consecutive terms but is eligible for reappointment one year after the expiration of his last term.
When a vacancy occurs, the board may make recommendations to the Marion County Legislative Delegation for a person or persons qualified to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired term."
Terms
SECTION 2. Act 197 of 1991 is amended by adding:
"Section 1A. The terms of the two new members added pursuant to the provisions of this act are for four years and begin July 1, 2005, and expiring at the end of the hospital's fiscal year in the year the term expires."
Time effective
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 4th day of May, 2005.
