VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE ALLIE BROOKS, JR., OF FLORENCE FOR HIS TWENTY-NINE YEARS OF EDUCATING, MENTORING, AND LEADING STUDENTS AS PRINCIPAL OF WILSON HIGH SCHOOL, AND WISH HIM GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS UPON HIS RETIREMENT.
Whereas, with mixed emotions, the members of the General Assembly have learned that Mr. Allie Brooks, Jr., is retiring from his role as Principal of Wilson High School in Florence where he has guided the lives of teenagers for the past twenty-nine years; and
Whereas, Florence School District One has been blessed over the years with able and talented educators and Mr. Brooks is clearly one of the most dedicated individuals who has served; and
Whereas, Mr. Brooks is a beloved spouse to Barbara Faye Eaddy Brooks. The couple are the proud and loving parents of four children: Allie Eugene III, Deanna Fredrica, Thelma Susanna, and, daughter-in-law, Janelle Hargrove Brooks; and
Whereas, he is a graduate of Wilson High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from South Carolina State University. Mr. Brooks went on to attain a Masters Degree in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina and completed an Institute on the Principal and School Improvement at Harvard University; and
Whereas, before accepting the position as Principal at Wilson High, Mr. Brooks taught Mathematics at Moore Middle School in Florence and was an Assistant Principal at West Florence; and
Whereas, Mr. Brooks, a consummate professional, has always demonstrated integrity and fairness to his students, faculty, and staff; and
Whereas, his dedication and success is further evidenced by numerous awards including: the Florence Civitans "Citizen of the Year" in 1987, Outstanding Principal of the Year for 1986-1987, the Chi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity "Citizen of the Year" in 1989, Phi Beta Sigma "Educator of the Year" in 1995, and "Principal of the Year for 2000"; and
Whereas, Mr. Brooks is a role model for the entire community of Florence and it is with great admiration that the members of the General Assembly honor him for touching and bettering the lives of so many young people in Florence County and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina recognize and congratulate Allie Brooks, Jr., of Florence for his twenty-nine years of educating, mentoring, and leading students as Principal of Wilson High School, and wish him good health and happiness upon his retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Brooks.
