A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE BENEDICT COLLEGE GOLF TEAM AND COACH HERMAN D. BELTON FOR CAPTURING THE DIVISION II TITLE AT THE NATIONAL MINORITY COLLEGE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, it has come to the attention of the members of the General Assembly that the Benedict College golf team captured the Division II title at the National Minority College Golf Championship held at the PGA Golf Club at Port St. Lucie, Florida; and

Whereas, the Benedict golf team shot 322-324-324 for a three-day total of 970 and won the title by 27 strokes over Fayetteville State; and

Whereas, Benedict College's Demond Hale won the Division II individual title by one stroke over Lincoln's Adam Hoffman; and

Whereas, Demond Hale shot a 75-78-78 for a three-day total of 231; and

Whereas, other Benedict College golf team members Montrele Wells, Justan Johnson, George Shears, and Jason Richardson played outstanding matches; and

Whereas, new team members are: Timothy Warren, Devereaux Burnett, and Antwan Hawthorne; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the General Assembly recognize the abilities of these talented young men and wish them much success in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the Benedict College golf team and Coach Herman D. Belton for capturing the Division II Title at the National Minority College Golf Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Belton and Dr. David H. Swinton, President of Benedict College.
