A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND RECOGNIZE THE MAULDIN HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2005 AAAA STATE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO HONOR THE RUNNERS AND THEIR COACH, DELMER HOWELL, ON AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON.

Whereas, the Mauldin High School Cross Country Team capped its outstanding season by capturing the AAAA State Cross Country Championship; and

Whereas, true excellence in long-distance running demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team effort and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using those talents and attributes, coach Delmer Howell and his runners showed both fans and foes that the Mauldin High School team is a force to be reckoned with; and

Whereas, the twenty-five student athletes of the Mauldin High School Cross Country Team showed great skill and determination throughout the season, representing their school and surrounding community with the finest caliber performance; and

Whereas, standout Chad Holt brought further recognition to his team by winning the State Cross Country Individual Championship Title; and

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly takes great pride in recognizing the runners of the Mauldin High School Cross Country Team for their dedication and perseverance in achieving both in the classroom and on the course, wishes them continued success in the seasons to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, commend and recognize the Mauldin High School Cross Country Team on its impressive win of the 2005 AAAA State Cross Country Championship and honor the runners and their coach, Delmer Howell, on an exceptional season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the athletes, coaches, and school officials of the Mauldin High School Cross Country Team.
