A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE FATHERS WITH PRIDE PROGRAM FOR ITS COMMITMENT TO PROVIDING SUPPORT SERVICES TO NONCUSTODIAL FATHERS AS THEY SEEK TO IMPROVE THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR CHILDREN.

Whereas, the Fathers with Pride Program is one of sixteen programs funded by the Sisters of Charity Foundation, a foundation committed to reducing poverty in South Carolina; and

Whereas, it was initially funded in 2000 with a mission to support noncustodial fathers by promoting effective utilization of co-parenting skills to enable fathers to communicate effectively with their children while working to reduce the level of poverty within this segment of the population; and

Whereas, the Fathers with Pride Program has expanded to include the 29223 and 29203 zip code areas in Richland County; and

Whereas, the Fathers with Pride Program works with the faith-based community, civic organizations, and the business sector to achieve its goals; and

Whereas, it has provided services to more than two thousand noncustodial fathers and more than four hundred children since 2000; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations to commend the Fathers with Pride Program for its commitment to addressing the needs of noncustodial fathers and their children. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend the Fathers with Pride Program for its commitment to providing support services to noncustodial fathers as they seek to improve their relationships with their children.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Fathers with Pride Program.
