A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MACK KOLB OF SUMTER COUNTY AS THE 2005 BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR BY THE GREATER SUMTER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE CITIZEN'S BANK, AND TO HONOR HIM FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE REAL ESTATE AND COMMUNITY OF SUMTER AND STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Mack Kolb has worked intensively for thirty years building a name and reputation that is synonymous with real estate in Sumter; and

Whereas, he is a native of Sumter, and a 1973 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in business administration; and

Whereas, being one of the top real estate professionals in the community, Mr. Kolb has helped revitalize Sumter's housing environment to a world-class community, and as a token of appreciation for his local impact, he was selected by his peers as Sumter's Realtor of the Year in 2001; and

Whereas, he also has dedicated a considerable amount of time to civic duties making an immeasurable impact on the community. He is the Advisory Council Chairman to the Salvation Army, a member of the Boys' Club Council, the YMCA Board of Directors, the Sumter Jaycees, and the Shaw-Sumter Community Council, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees and Captain of the Ushers at Trinity Methodist Church; and

Whereas, Mr. Kolb has enriched the community with his astounding vision as a past member of the Sumter City-County Planning Commission, chairman of the Subdivision Review Committee, former member of the Chamber Board of Directors, and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Wachovia Bank; and

Whereas, he has gone above and beyond his call of duty infinite times to ease the hardships and smooth the path for small business owners and their families to migrate to Sumter; and

Whereas, as a member of the economic restructuring committee that is a part of the downtown revitalization effort for the City of Sumter, Mr. Kolb, alongside Sumter's Downtown Development Manager, is directly responsible for developing an economic incentive program that is a vital tool in the revitalization effort; and

Whereas, for his tireless efforts to help his hometown grow and prosper, while at the same time making his community, family, and business stronger, the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce and the Citizen's Bank are pleased to recognize Mack Kolb as the 2005 Business Person of the Year. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate Mack Kolb of Sumter County as the 2005 Business Person of the Year by the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce and the Citizen's Bank, and honor him for his outstanding contributions to the real estate and community of Sumter and State of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mack Kolb.
