A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE WILLIAM M. RHODES III OF ANDERSON COUNTY FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIS COMMUNITY AND TO WISH HIM ALL THE BEST IN EVERY ENDEAVOR HE UNDERTAKES.

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pride in recognizing those South Carolinians who give tirelessly of themselves in furtherance of this great State; and

Whereas, Mr. William "Billy" Rhodes is certainly one such individual, as his life stands as a testament to all the good that comes from the hard work, integrity, and perseverance of one man; and

Whereas, a devoted husband and family man, Mr. Rhodes is married to the former Kay Terry of Anderson, and together they have three children, Matt, Jena, and Owen; and

Whereas, serving as President of the Anderson Area YMCA for the past eleven years, Mr. Rhodes has overseen great change and growth in the Anderson YMCA program, touching the lives of countless individuals who benefit from his programming and building campaigns; and

Whereas, completing his third nationally-recognized YMCA building program with the construction of the new Anderson Family Wellness Center, Mr. Rhodes also oversaw facility construction projects in Mobile, Alabama and Camden, South Carolina; and

Whereas, serving as President of the Anderson YMCA, Mr. Rhodes developed collaborative initiatives with numerous civic organizations, including the Anderson County United Way, the City of Anderson, Anderson County Special Olympics, and the Anderson County Home School Association; and

Whereas, moved by the heart and dedication of Mr. Rhodes to YMCA projects and building campaigns, contributors to Anderson YMCA gave over two million dollars in capital giving, with over $100,000.00 allocated each year in scholarship assistance to thousands of children, seniors, and families; and

Whereas, Mr. Rhodes' community activism does not only extend to his work with the YMCA. He has selflessly given his time in various capacities to the Anderson Rotary Club, the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, the Anderson County Meals on Wheels organization, and to Central Presbyterian Church; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations so that they might honor the accomplishments of this most accomplished South Carolinian. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and recognize William M. Rhodes III of Anderson County for his outstanding contributions to his community and wish him all the best in every endeavor he undertakes.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Billy Rhodes.
