AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 1079 OF 1958, RELATING TO THE HISTORICAL COMMISSION FOR FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SO AS TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF THE COMMISSION FROM FIVE MEMBERS TO SEVEN MEMBERS AND TO REVISE THE METHOD OF THEIR APPOINTMENT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Commission increased, appointment method revised
SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 1079 of 1958 is amended to read:
"Section 1. There is hereby created a Historical Commission for Fairfield County, to be composed of seven members to be appointed by the governing body of Fairfield County. The terms of the five present members of the commission shall expire on July 1, 2006, at which time their successors must be appointed in the manner required by this section. The members of the commission shall be appointed for terms of three years and until their successors are appointed and qualified. In case of any vacancy prior to the expiration of a regular term, the appointment to fill such vacancy shall be made in the same manner as provided for the original appointment and for the unexpired portion of the term. The commission, upon being appointed, shall meet and elect a chairman and secretary-treasurer."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 14th day of March, 2006.
Approved the 15th day of March, 2006.
