A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR FRANK D. PINCKNEY OF GREENVILLE COUNTY FOR HIS LEADERSHIP AND PUBLIC SERVICE AS PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE GREENVILLE HOSPITAL SYSTEM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Frank D. Pinckney began his long and distinguished career with the Greenville Hospital System on January 2, 1963, and progressed through a series of successive Greenville Hospital System managerial positions, including Senior Vice President of Acute Services and Executive Vice President. This culminated in his appointment as President and CEO of the Greenville Hospital System in December 1991; and

Whereas, during his more than forty-three years of service as an administrator with the Greenville Hospital System, he made major contributions to the continuous improvements of South Carolina's health status and worked tirelessly to ensure that all upstate residents have access to high-quality healthcare services; and

Whereas, as President and CEO of one of the largest health systems in the Southeast, Mr. Pinckney demonstrated an extraordinary depth of understanding of the business and clinical applications of the healthcare industry, skillfully and successfully guiding the system through significant industry challenges, competently planning and directing the expansion and improvement of Greenville Hospital System to continue its provision of high-quality healthcare services for the growing upstate population, and effectively meeting the ongoing healthcare profession staffing shortages with creative solutions; and

Whereas, through his leadership abilities, Mr. Pinckney established a record of seeking innovative and collaborative solutions for improved health status, including his contributions as a founding architect of the Health Sciences South Carolina Collaborative, the unique and historic statewide partnership for improved health and economic development across the State; and

Whereas, he first began seeking health status solutions by establishing the Greenville Hospital System Research and Education Campus, which includes the Research, Education, and Innovation Institute where South Carolina's leading health and research institutions will pursue life-changing research and academic excellence while serving as a catalyst for moving South Carolina forward in the new knowledge-based economy; and

Whereas, Mr. Pinckney has served on the boards of various academic, health, and community organizations as both an advocate for the young and as an ardent supporter of education, while helping to move disadvantaged families and individuals toward self-sufficiency and working to make certain that the basic healthcare needs of every citizen of South Carolina have been met today and will continue to be met in the future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize and honor Frank D. Pinckney of Greenville County for his leadership and public service as President and CEO of the Greenville Hospital System upon the occasion of his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Pinckney.
