A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MR. NEVILLE O. LORICK, PRESIDENT OF SOUTH CAROLINA ELECTRIC AND GAS COMPANY, AND ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S MOST RESPECTED BUSINESS EXECUTIVES, UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THIS POSITION.

Whereas, on May 15, 2006, one of South Carolina's most respected business executives, Mr. Neville O. Lorick, President of South Carolina Electric and Gas Company, will be retiring from this position; and

Whereas, South Carolina Electric and Gas Company is the largest subsidiary of the SCANA Corporation which is the largest investor owned public utility in South Carolina; and

Whereas, Neville Lorick has been with South Carolina Electric and Gas Company for more than thirty-five years, first working as a meter reader to help pay his way through engineering school at the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, he continues a long tradition of service with this outstanding company as his father was also associated with South Carolina Electric and Gas Company; and

Whereas, Neville Lorick's last major responsibilities with South Carolina Electric and Gas Company were overseeing of the completion of the new power plant in Jasper County and the Lake Murray backup dam. Together these two projects represented capital costs of more than one billion dollars and both came in on time and under budget which are a testament to his outstanding leadership abilities; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend Mr. Lorick for a truly distinguished career with South Carolina Electric and Gas Company as his tenure as President of South Carolina Electric and Gas Company comes to a close. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Mr. Neville O. Lorick, President of South Carolina Electric and Gas Company and one of South Carolina's most respected business executives, upon his retirement from this position.
