A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON THE DEATH OF WILLIAM BLAKE "BILL" HALLMAN OF MCCORMICK AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. William Blake "Bill" Hallman of McCormick, who passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at the age of seventy; and

Whereas, Mr. Hallman was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Dr. Elmer Berley and Lillian Daisy Williams Hallman; he graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and served with honor in the United States Army; and

Whereas, after twenty-four years as an outstanding employee with General Motors and great success with large community associations, Mr. Hallman became General Manager of Savannah Lakes Village, where he served since 2001; and

Whereas, Mr. Hallman worked tirelessly to serve his community and was a member of the McCormick County Visitors Council, Rotary Club of McCormick, Economic Development Board, Heritage Corridor Board of Visitors, and the Willington Board and Board of Visitors for Lander University and Piedmont Technical College; and

Whereas, Mr. Hallman was also a member of the Tourism Community Association Institute, where he was certified as a professional community association manager and was a founding member of the Community Managers International Association; and

Whereas, he was a faithful member of McCormick Baptist Church and an avid booster of the town of McCormick and its economy; and

Whereas, Mr. Hallman was the beloved husband of Margaret Ann Mosley Hallman, and was a loving father of LeeAnne Grace Apple of Springfield, Tennessee; two sons, John Greene Hallman of Columbia, and David William Hallman of Bethpage, Tennessee; and Deborah P. Davis of Summerville, and he was the proud and doting grandfather of six grandchildren; and

Whereas, Mr. Hallman is also survived by a brother, Robert E. Hallman of Morehead City, North Carolina; and

Whereas, Mr. William Blake "Bill" Hallman earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him; he was a beloved friend, neighbor, and colleague, and he will be dearly missed; and

Whereas, it is proper and fitting for the members of the South Carolina Senate to pause in their deliberations to recognize the passing of so distinguished a South Carolinian and his many contributions to his community and this State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow on the death of William Blake "Bill" Hallman of McCormick and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Margaret Ann Mosley Hallman, of McCormick.
