A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE AT THE DEATH OF MR. WALTER EUGENE "GENE" BROWN OF GAFFNEY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, Walter Eugene "Gene" Brown of Gaffney died on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the age of seventy; and

Whereas, Mr. Brown was president of Brown Packing Company, Inc. in Gaffney, South Carolina, served in the Army Reserves, and served on both the Executive Board of Palmetto Council of Boy Scouts and on the Board of Directors and Executive Committees of the American Meat Institute; and

Whereas, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spartanburg, where he served as a deacon; and

Whereas, he was known for his love and dedication to all of his family, including his wife, Linda Reed Brown, his two daughters, Shannon Bradford and Shelly Smith; his two sons, Reed Brown and David Brown; his sisters, Margaret Clary, Claire Poole, and Eunice Howard; his brothers, Jim Brown and William Brown; and his twelve grandchildren; and

Whereas, we want Mr. Brown's family and his many friends to know he is in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Mr. Walter Eugene "Gene" Brown of Gaffney and extend sympathy to his family and his many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Brown.
