A BILL

TO PROVIDE THAT, IN ANDERSON COUNTY, ANY REFERENDUM HELD BY A LOCAL TAXING AUTHORITY TO SEEK APPROVAL FOR AN INCREASE IN MILLAGE RATES, TO ISSUE BONDS, OR FOR ANY OTHER REVENUE RAISING MEASURE MUST BE HELD IN EVEN NUMBERED YEARS AT THE TIME OF THE GENERAL ELECTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    When a referendum is held by a local taxing authority in Anderson County to seek approval from a majority of the qualified electors in the authority's district for an increase in millage rates, to issue bonds, or for any other revenue raising measure, the referendum must be held in an even numbered year at the time of the general election.

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
