CONGRATULATING THE LADY BLUE FLAME OF PICKENS HIGH SCHOOL ON THEIR ELEVENTH AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP VOLLEYBALL TITLE, COMMENDING THEIR DEDICATION AND TEAMWORK, AND WISHING THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE SEASONS.
Whereas, the Pickens High School Lady Blue Flame volleyball team won their eleventh AAA State Championship title, defeating Bluffton High School in three straight sets; and
Whereas, the program, led by Head Coach Jennifer Gravely and Assistant Coach Janet Phillips, worked hard all season, focusing on the importance of team work; and
Whereas, the Championship winning team consists of Abby McCollum, Chelsea Gambrell, Ashlyn Underhill, Courtney White, Emily Harper, Kelli Constance, Kendra Abercrombie, Marlie Bryant, Shanna Hughes, Chelsea Anthony, Jennifer Spalliero, Lauren Williams, Sierra Austin, Channing Cantrell, and Stephanie Alexander; and
Whereas, excellence in volleyball demands individual strength, agility, and skill, and the Lady Blue Flame achieved their dream of a second consecutive championship win through solid team effort, intensely practicing both individual skill and team unity; and
Whereas, their 26-6 season record could not have been accomplished without the support of the administration, fans, community, and their parents. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Lady Blue Flame of Pickens High School on their State Championship win, commend their dedication and teamwork, and wish them much success in their future seasons.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Jennifer Gravely, Coach of the 2005 State Girls Volleyball Champions, the Lady Blue Flame of Pickens High School.
