A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 15-29-110 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A REQUIRED LEGAL NOTICE IN A NEWSPAPER MAY BE ABBREVIATED AND THE READER DIRECTED TO A WEBSITE OR THE LOCAL LIBRARY FOR A DETAILED LEGAL NOTICE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 29, Title 15 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 15-29-110.    Notwithstanding another provision of law, when it is required that legal notice be published in a newspaper, the legal notice may be abbreviated in the newspaper along with information to direct the reader to a website or the local library where the detailed legal notice is available for review."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
