A HOUSE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE DEEP SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF CHESTER COUNTY COUNCILMAN WILLIAM "BILL" WESTBROOK AND EXTENDING THEIR CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, Chester County Councilman William "Bill" Westbrook died Thursday, February 2, 2006, at the age of 60; and

Whereas, a native son, Mr. Westbrook attended Chester County public schools and used his degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from York Technical College in his past employment with Bell South and Chester Telephone Company; and

Whereas, upon his untimely death, he was a self-employed farmer, having returned to his much-loved Chester County soil; and

Whereas, a Marine veteran of two tours in Vietnam, Councilman Westbrook continued his leadership and service as a Little League baseball coach and Boy Scout leader; and

Whereas, he will be greatly missed by the Chester community and his loving family: his wife Barbara Adams Westbrook; son Walter Thomas Westbrook; four daughters, Mariam W. Ward, Rachel McCreight Westbrook, Anna Kathleen Westbrook, and Emily Ruth Westbrook; and his two grandchildren; and

Whereas, it is a privilege for the House of Representatives to honor the memory and legacy of such a dedicated community leader and loving family man. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their deep sorrow upon learning of the death of Chester County Councilman William "Bill" Westbrook and extend their condolences to his family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of William "Bill" Westbrook.
