To whom was referred a Bill (S. 491) to amend Section 42-3-80, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to the Administrative Director of the Administrative Department of the Workers' Compensation Commission, etc., respectfully

EXPLANATION OF IMPACT:
The Workers' Compensation Commission states that implementation of this bill will result in annual savings to the General Fund of the State of $14,919 in salary and $2,504 in fringe benefits for a total of $17,423. The savings represents a reduction in the Director's salary and related fringe upon enactment of this bill.

TO AMEND SECTION 42-3-80, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENT OF THE WORKERS' COMPENSATION COMMISSION, SO AS TO TIE THE MAXIMUM SALARY PAID TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR TO THE SALARY PAID TO COMMISSIONERS INSTEAD OF CIRCUIT JUDGES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The first paragraph of Section 42-3-80 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 42-3-80. The administrative department of the Commission commission shall be under the direction of the administrative director. The director shall must be appointed by the Commission commission, and serve serves at its pleasure, and shall receive an annual salary of not to exceed eighty-five percent of the salary paid to the circuit judges of the State commissioners."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
