TO CONGRATULATE HOST ROWLAND ALSTON, JR., AND THE STAFF OF SOUTH CAROLINA EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION'S EMMY AWARD WINNING MAKING IT GROW! ON THE AIRING OF THE PROGRAM'S FOUR HUNDREDTH SHOW ON MAY 13, 2008.
Whereas, the Senate is pleased to note that the fine gardening television program Making It Grow! will air its four hundredth show on May 13, 2008; and
Whereas, hosted by Rowland Alston, Jr., and produced by South Carolina Educational Television with the assistance of Clemson University, the Emmy Award winning Making It Grow! is a live, interactive call-in program that harvests and serves current research-based horticultural information to its viewers; and
Whereas, accepting related call-in questions and comments as they talk, Rowland Alston, Jr., and his featured guests focus on gardening topics while highlighting interesting places and products from around the Palmetto State; and
Whereas, the crowd-pleaser program, many-times honored, has received several Emmy Awards, among them Outstanding Achievement in Television Programming Excellence for an Interview/Discussion Program, awarded by the Southern Regional Emmy Awards; and Outstanding Achievement in Television Craft and Scenic Design, awarded by the South East Regional Emmy Awards; and
Whereas, host Rowland Alston, Jr., also many-times honored, has a bachelor's degree in agricultural education and a master's degree in agronomy from Clemson University and numbers that institution's Distinguished Public Service Award among his accolades; and
Whereas, grateful for the program's educational mission, delivered with entertaining punch, the Senate takes great pleasure in recognizing Making It Grow! as a South Carolina treasure and in congratulating the program on the airing of its four hundredth show. The members extend their best wishes to Mr. Alston and the program's staff for many more years of productive service. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate host Rowland Alston, Jr., and the staff of South Carolina Educational Television's Emmy Award winning Making It Grow! on the airing of the program's four hundredth show on May 13, 2008.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Rowland Alston, Jr., and the staff of Making It Grow!
