AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 256 OF 1981, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF MARLBORO COUNTY, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE MEMBERS ARE ELECTED FROM ELECTION DISTRICTS CORRESPONDING TO THE EIGHT SINGLE-MEMBER ELECTION DISTRICTS FROM WHICH MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF MARLBORO COUNTY ARE ELECTED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Marlboro County Board of Education, election

SECTION    1.    Section 5 of Act 256 of 1981, as last amended by Act 457 of 2002, is further amended to read:

"Section    5.    For the purpose of electing members of the Marlboro County Board of Education beginning in 2008, the School District of Marlboro County is divided into eight single-member election districts, from which each member must reside and be elected by the qualified electors of that election district, corresponding with the eight single-member election districts for the election of members to the county council of Marlboro County."

Time effective

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Ratified the 22nd day of March, 2007.

Approved the 28th day of March, 2007.
