A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE 2006 WINNERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA CABLE TELEVISION ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AND WISH THEM WELL IN ALL THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the South Carolina Cable Television Association (SCCTA), a professional trade group representing member cable television operating companies, has established a new scholarship fund to provide meaningful financial support to selected full-time students enrolled at South Carolina research colleges and universities; and

Whereas, to enter the program, scholastically qualified recipients must be South Carolina residents currently enrolled in the School of Communications and must have earned enough credits to be classified as sophomores; and

Whereas, awards include three full years of tuition and books and two nine-week summer internships at cable television systems in South Carolina; and

Whereas, four new SCCTA Foundation scholarships have been awarded to students at South Carolina State University and Clemson University; and

Whereas, from the rigorous selection process, these students were chosen as winners of the scholarships: from Clemson University, Whitney Chipley, of Florence, and Scott Sampson, of Aiken; from South Carolina State University, Sean Sims, of Columbia, and Le Tamra Dixon, of Timmonsville; and

Whereas, expecting to hear of great accomplishments in days to come, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly take great pleasure in recognizing these young scholarship winners for their academic achievements. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the 2006 winners of the South Carolina Cable Television Association Foundation Scholarship Program and wish them well in all their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Whitney Chipley, of Florence; Scott Sampson, of Aiken; Sean Sims, of Columbia; and Le Tamra Dixon, of Timmonsville.
