VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE LOWER RICHLAND HIGH SCHOOL "LADY DIAMONDS" BASKETBALL TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 CLASS AAAA STATE GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS, COACH DEBORAH STROMAN, AND ASSISTANT COACHES LISA DIAZ, ROMAINA MYERS, AND SHEILA MAYZCK ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.
Whereas, well prepared for the challenge, the Lower Richland High School "Lady Diamonds" basketball team crowned its superlative 25-2 season by capturing the 2007 Class AAAA State Girls Basketball Championship title, defeating Dorman 54-46 at Columbia's Colonial Center on Friday, March 2, 2007; and
Whereas, championship play in basketball demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and
Whereas, using these talents and attributes, Coach Deborah Stroman and her assistant coaches and players showed both fans and foes alike that the Lady Diamonds' winning of this victory was no lucky accident; and
Whereas, demonstrating both poise and class and never relinquishing their game lead from the opening basket down to the wire, these tenacious athletes made it their second state championship, with back-to-back triumphs in 2006 and 2007; and
Whereas, the General Assembly takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Lower Richland High School girls basketball team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the basketball court and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
