A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JAMES E. "JIMMY" BRISTOW, OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE RURITAN ORGANIZATION AND TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO WISH HIM ALL THE BEST IN THE COMING YEARS.

Whereas, possessing a heart for service and striving to make a difference in his own community, Jimmy Bristow joined the Pineview Ruritan Club in 1988. Ruritan National is America's leading community service organization; and

Whereas, a steadfast Ruritan member, Mr. Bristow has not missed a meeting in eighteen years and has served in numerous leadership roles, including Chair of the Business and Professions committee, Club Director, Club Vice President, and Club President; and

Whereas, a devoted family man, Mr. Bristow shares a loving marriage with his wife of twenty-four years, Fran Senn Bristow, and adores his three children, Jeremy, Andrew, and Ryan; and

Whereas, making Ruritan membership a true "family affair", Mr. Bristow's entire immediate family is involved in the organization; and

Whereas, thriving under Mr. Bristow's exceptional leadership and vision, the Pineview Club was awarded the National Blue Ribbon Award in 1993; and

Whereas, in 1993, Mr. Bristow was selected as the Columbia District Ruritan of the Year. On the District level, he served as Zone Governor, District Lieutenant Governor, District Convention Chair, District Growth and Development Chair, and District Leadership Development Chair; and

Whereas, serving on the national level for over ten years, Mr. Bristow was elected National President of the Ruritan Organization in 2007 after holding many important national positions; and

Whereas, a 1971 Airport High School graduate, Mr. Bristow received a Bachelor's Degree from the Citadel in 1975 and currently serves as Vice President in Commercial Lending at Security Federal Bank in West Columbia; and

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the South Carolina General Assembly pause in their deliberations to honor Mr. Jimmy Bristow for his selfless service to this State and nation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor James E. "Jimmy" Bristow, of Lexington County, for his outstanding contributions to the Ruritan organization and to the State of South Carolina, and wish him all the best in the coming years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. James E. "Jimmy" Bristow.
