A HOUSE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL YELLOW JACKET BOYS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM ON CAPTURING THE CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, RECOGNIZING THEIR REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT OF REMAINING UNDEFEATED ALL SEASON AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA SCHOOLS AND WINNING SEVERAL TITLES IN THEIR SPORT, AND WISHING THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN FUTURE SEASONS.

Whereas, the Fort Mill High School Yellow Jacket boys cross country team won the Class AAAA State Championship following a remarkable undefeated season against South Carolina schools; and

Whereas, the Yellow Jackets posted an impressive record this season by placing fifth in the Nike Team National Southeast Rankings and winning both the Region Championship 3-4A and the York County Championship; and

Whereas, their winning season on the local, state, regional, and national level are a testament to the team's dedication, talent, and teamwork; and

Whereas, the team is comprised of David Willis, Mark Blackmon, David Huckaby, Travis Owens, Josh Mabry, Daniel Kalshoven, Jon Kawakami, Ryan Fielden, Jarred White, and Kevin Coleman. The team was lead to victory under the helm of Head Coach Scott Barefield and Assistant Coach Marc Pyrc; and

Whereas, cross country racing requires individual strength, endurance, and speed, of which the 2006-2007 team was filled. The Yellow Jackets were able to have an outstanding season ending in a Class AAAA State Championship because of their amazing talent, dedicated teamwork, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Fort Mill High School Yellow Jacket boys cross country team on capturing the Class AAAA State Championship, recognizing their remarkable achievement of remaining undefeated all season against South Carolina schools and winning several titles in their sport, and wishing them much success in future seasons.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Scott Barefield, and the entire team and staff of the Fort Mill High School Yellow Jacket boys cross country team.
