AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 469 OF 2002, RELATING TO THE UNION COUNTY BOARD OF SCHOOL TRUSTEES AND THE UNION COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT, SO AS TO REVISE THE TIME PERIOD WHEN CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION TO THE BOARD MUST FILE STATEMENTS OF CANDIDACY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Filing period revised
SECTION 1. Section 1(B) of Act 469 of 2002 is amended to read:
"(B) Each member of the board must be elected by the qualified electors of that district. All persons desiring to qualify as a candidate shall file written notice of candidacy with the county election commission during a filing period to open at noon on August first and to end at noon on August fifteenth, Saturdays and Sundays excepted. This notice of candidacy must be a sworn statement and must include the candidate's name, age, residence address, voting precinct, period of residence in the election district from which election is sought, and other information as the county election commission requires."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
