A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND COMMEND RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO ON BEING SELECTED AS ONE OF THREE DISTRICTS IN THE NATION AS A NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION'S 2007 TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP NETWORK SITE VISIT DISTRICT.

Whereas, Richland School District Two, a rapidly growing school district in Columbia, South Carolina, has infused technologies into all its classrooms and has leveraged information as a key resource in data-driven teaching practices; and

Whereas, the superintendent's and school board's vision of high quality technology in every aspect of the educational process has evolved since 1996, elevating Richland Two into a national leader in educational technology; and

Whereas, an integrated teaching and learning environment, along with differentiated instruction for reaching every student, has transformed education for the 21st Century; and

Whereas, Richland Two has extended learning beyond the classroom walls, including a Virtual High School; and

Whereas, the district's technology-supported benchmark testing enhances data-informed decision making; and

Whereas, the Richland Two Board of Trustees has implemented a paperless board meeting system using electronic school board software; and

Whereas, Richland Two has been designated a National School Boards Association's 2007 Technology Leadership Network Site Visit District. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate and commend Richland School District Two on being selected one of the three districts in the nation as a National School Boards Association's 2007 Technology Leadership Network Site Visit District for its collaboration with the NSBA, and its commitment and vision to fully integrate technology into the classroom and throughout the district to transform education for the 21st Century.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Richland School District Two.
