A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

HONORING AND THANKING THE SOUTH CAROLINA STUDENT LEGISLATURE FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND DUTIFUL SERVICE IN HELPING TO EDUCATE THE STUDENTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN THE WORKINGS OF GOVERNMENT AND THE LEGISLATURE, AND WISHING THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THEIR CONTINUED YEARS OF SERVICE.

Whereas, the South Carolina Student Legislature is a student-run mock legislature. Colleges and universities throughout the State send delegations to two annual sessions to debate bills and further their knowledge about parliamentary procedure and state government; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Student Legislature was founded by students to be perpetuated solely by students. The aims of which are to educate South Carolina's students about the functions of democratic government and to provide a forum for student debate on public policy issues; and

Whereas, the Student Legislature has been educating students for fifty years; and

Whereas, their continued diligence has produced legislation that has been carried on to both the South Carolina Senate and House of Representatives; and

Whereas, the Student Legislature has educated many of the top legislators and public servants in the state of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Student Legislature is the premier educator of college students of the process of the state legislature through the hands-on experience one achieves within the organization. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, honor and extend its appreciation for the fifty years of service the South Carolina Student Legislature has given to the students and the General Assembly of South Carolina.
