THE GREENWOOD DELEGATION

To whom was referred a Bill (H. 3319) to amend Act 595 of 1994, relating to the manner in which members of the Board of Trustees of Greenwood School District 50 are elected, so as to change the filing, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 595 OF 1994, RELATING TO THE MANNER IN WHICH MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF GREENWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT 50 ARE ELECTED, SO AS TO CHANGE THE FILING PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER TO AUGUST.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    The second undesignated paragraph of subsection (A) of Section 1 of Act 595 of 1994, as last amended by Act 145 of 2001, is further amended to read:

"Each member of the board must be elected by the qualified electors of the respective district from which the candidate seeks election. All persons A person desiring to qualify as a candidate shall file a written statement of candidacy with the county election commission on forms furnished by the election commission. This statement of candidacy must include such information as the county election commission requires. The filing period opens on the first Tuesday in September August at noon to run for two weeks."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
