A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2006 NATIONAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION VICTORY BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.

Whereas, the Crusaders of North Greenville University defeated Malone College 56-28 on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at North Greenville University's Younts Stadium, to capture the 2006 National Christian College Athletic Association Victory Bowl Championship title; and

Whereas, Head Coach Mike Taylor and his assistant coaches, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their football program into a championship team; and

Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Crusaders, with ten wins and two losses, making the 2006 season the most successful in school history; and

Whereas, during the 2006 season, the Crusaders also set school records in points scored, team rushing, and total offensive yards and were proud to boast the number-one-ranking offense in the nation for National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II schools; and

Whereas, with standouts Andre Bernardi, Eric Moeller, Matt Moore, and Rashad Cummings, North Greenville climbed into the national polls for the first time in school history, finishing twenty-third in the Don Hansen National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II poll; and

Whereas, for his winning efforts, Head Coach Mike Taylor was tabbed South Carolina Coach of the Year by The State newspaper; and

Whereas, having wrapped up an incredible season with a number-one ranking in the National Christian College Athletic Association, the players and coaches of North Greenville University deserve this special tribute for their record-setting season's performance and championship win; and

Whereas, the Crusaders have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of talented young athletes and their coaches. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the North Greenville University varsity football team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2006 National Christian College Athletic Association Victory Bowl Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the President of North Greenville University, James B. Epting, and Head Coach Mike Taylor.
