A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF DAVID G. WILLIAMS OF LANCASTER COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of David G. Williams, on November 14, 2013, at the venerable age of seventy-two; and

Whereas, born in the Abney Community of Kershaw County, he was the son of the late Jack and Hattie Mae Stogner Williams; and

Whereas, he retired as an industrial mechanic with DuPont Company and served as a magistrate for twenty-seven years; and

Whereas, answering the call of his country, this steadfast patriot served with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps during the Cuban Missile Crisis; and

Whereas, as a man of faith, he was a dedicated member of Kershaw's Second Baptist Church, as well as Abney Lodge #211 and Hejaz Temple; and

Whereas, David Williams enjoyed the beauties of nature, working on his farm, and growing blueberries; and

Whereas, his family was the focus of Mr. Williams' life, and he is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Carolyn Faile Williams; a devoted daughter, Pam Williams Neal and her husband, Doug; two grandchildren, Sean Neal and Lindsey Neal; a brother, Joel Williams, and his wife, Glenda; and

Whereas, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margie W. Locke; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of this son of South Carolina and the example of compassion and kindness he set for all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of David G. Williams of Lancaster County and extend their deepest sympathy to his large and loving family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Carolyn Faile Williams for the family.
